PopEater Asks? “Is There Hope For Danny Gokey?”
Should we Danny fans be worried that Danny is yet to be signed by any recording label? This article here speculates that Danny may fall victim to the “3rd place curse of Idol” if there is such. Just because Adam, Kris and Allison are now signed by 19 Entertainment doesn’t mean Danny will remain independent. We say, we wait and be patient. There is hope for Danny Gokey!

The likable 29-year-old singer from Milwaukee went far in the last season of ‘American Idol,’ with his powerful voice, tragic backstory and Robert Downey-esque good looks – but will Danny Gokey fall victim to the 3rd Place Curse of ‘Idol?’ Okay, “curse” might be an exaggeration, but after reading MTV’s rundown of third-place finalists’ post ‘Idol’ careers, we’re a little concerned about our boy Gokey.
‘Idol’ winner Kris Allen, runner-up Adam Lambert and fourth-place finalist Allison Iraheta have been signed by a major label (a division of 19 Entertainment, the company behind ‘Idol’), but Danny Gokey is still an independent entertainer, despite Danny’s plans to release a “soulful” album with rhythm and blues beats.
Third-place winners of the past seasons include Elliot Yamin, whose first single, ‘Wait for You,’ went platinum. The others have not fared as well, like first season contestant Nikki McKibbin and Vonzell Solomon of season four – and Yamin’s sophomore album hasn’t performed as well as the first.
On the other hand, if past seasons are an accurate indicator, Allison Iraheta may have much to look forward to. The recently-signed teenager is in good company, as super-successful recording artists Josh Gracin and Chris Daughtry were fellow fourth-place finishers.

Every singer is an individual. Danny is not the same as any other person who placed 3rd, 2nd or 1st (where he ought to have been)! All this speculation is not informative, so why bother? Danny’s got wild talent and a hella voice…so no reason to think he’s not going to have a succesful career. Too bad for 19 if they do choose to overlook Danny. It would be there loss, certainly.
Since I was a teen, it seems that I have always been surrounded by friends ( and two husbands ) in the entertainment industry. I am not easily impressed. I would buy the ‘phone book’ album, if that is what Danny puts out. Exceptional Man, Exceptional Talent ! Music is all about frequencies,/vibrations. Danny has good good good vibrations and my body doesn’t hesitate to let his music in.. He needs the right mentor and producer, someone a cut above, just like he is.
Danny was the Best and still is if 19 wont give him a deal someone else will…he is amazing…a killer voice…and will have an amazing carear!!
