Michael Sarver on the Idols Tour

Michael Sarver has spent the last month on tour with his fellow Top 10 finalists. With a month and a half to go on the 50 city tour, Michael opened up to AmericanIdol.com about being away from his family and if he has plans to return to the oil rig.

As Season 8’s tenth place finisher, Michael kicks off the show each night. Michael said that kicking off the show is a pretty amazing rush, and it’s “a responsibility I take very seriously.” He said he loves being able to get the crowd’s energy level up, and enjoys the leadership role of performing first.

During Michael’s set, he dedicates Ne-Yo’s “Closer” to his wife. Michael’s wife and two kids were able to make it out to the Idols Tour in Glendale, Arizona and Dallas, Texas. He probably won’t see his kids again until after the tour, but his wife will probably come out to the show again. Michael mentioned, “It’s almost harder to see them again, because they don’t fully understand the idea of me being there and then gone. It’s the most difficult part for me.”

To pass the time on the road, Michael uses the time to sleep or watch movies. He said the guys on the bus are always making fun of each other, but they know when to turn it on and when to turn it off.
